Secondary and High School Departmental Information

The academic training of students today is a primary concern of FCA. Training of the mind can be influenced by many variables. This is why our teachers are well-qualified in their academic training. Our classrooms offer a comfortable, structured learning atmosphere, and our textbooks reflect our academic Christian curriculum. All of these contribute to a quality education. The secondary department covers a wide spectrum of academic pursuits. Beyond the regular academic classes, FCA's secondary division offers courses in computers, foreign language, upper level math, science, and business.

Course Descriptions: A conceptual barrage of as much physics as we can fit into one year. This course concentrates less on math (where you get stuck in projectiles for one-fourth of a year) and devotes much more time to the counter intuitive concepts of physics. This course is offered every other year, alternating with chemistry. We cover as much as possible: from velocities to buoyancy, light and sound to heat and pressure, and we cannot skip Einstein's Theory of Relativity. The year culminates in the physics trip to Six Flags in New Jersey.
12th Grade
  • Course: Forensics
    Credits: 1
    Days Held: M-F
This course uses science to solve mysteries. Fingerprints, hair and fiber sampling, DNA, handwriting, blood spatter, gun-shot residue (GSR), toxicology, and shoe prints are just some of the areas that are covered. Students are also required to become an expert in a chosen field of forensics. That student then serves as a reference for the class for the school year. Students also examine mystery readings and writings throughout the year. The final exam consists of students developing a crime scene to be solved by the remainder of the class.
